About Mothers Against Addiction (MAA)

Mothers Against Addiction (MAA) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting mothers and families impacted by addiction. Through advocacy, resources, and emotional support, we empower families to heal, recover, and rebuild their lives.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Volunteer Public Relations Manager to help coordinate guest speakers, manage promotional events, and raise awareness of our mission. This role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling, public relations, and building meaningful connections to further our cause.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Speaker Coordination:

  • Identify, recruit, and coordinate guest speakers for MAA events, webinars, and workshops.
  • Act as a liaison between MAA and guest speakers to ensure alignment with our mission and goals.
  • Prepare speakers with key talking points, event details, and promotional materials.

Event Management:

  • Plan and manage promotional events (virtual and in-person) that raise awareness and engage supporters.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and communications team to promote events across social media, email campaigns, and other platforms.
  • Oversee event logistics, such as scheduling, registration, and post-event follow-ups.

Public Relations Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a PR strategy to enhance MAA’s visibility and reputation.
  • Write and distribute press releases, media kits, and promotional materials.
  • Build and maintain relationships with media contacts, influencers, and community leaders.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the leadership team to align PR efforts with organizational goals.
  • Partner with internal teams to promote campaigns, fundraisers, and other initiatives effectively.

Tracking and Reporting:

  • Monitor the success of PR and event efforts by tracking engagement, attendance, and media coverage.
  • Provide reports and insights to improve future strategies.

Qualifications

  • Experience in public relations, event planning, or communications (non-profit experience preferred).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft press releases and promotional content.
  • Familiarity with media outreach, event promotion, and PR best practices.
  • Ability to build relationships with speakers, media contacts, and stakeholders.
  • Passion for MAA’s mission and a commitment to supporting families affected by addiction.
  • Availability to dedicate 5-10 hours per week on a flexible schedule.
