About Mothers Against Addiction (MAA)

Mothers Against Addiction is a national non-profit organization dedicated to supporting mothers and families affected by addiction. We provide a safe, supportive space for healing and recovery through advocacy, education, and community-building initiatives.

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Skilled Facilitator to lead virtual support groups, workshops, and discussions for mothers and families impacted by addiction. This volunteer role is ideal for someone with a background in facilitation, counseling, or peer support who is passionate about making a difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Group Facilitation:
    ○ Lead virtual support groups and workshops, fostering an environment of trust, respect, and confidentiality.
    ○ Encourage meaningful discussions, peer support, and shared learning among participants.
  • Content Development:
    ○ Develop and adapt session agendas and materials in alignment with MAA’s mission and the needs of participants.
    ○ Incorporate evidence-based practices and tools for recovery and healing.
  • Participant Engagement:
    ○ Actively listen to participants and provide empathetic, non-judgmental guidance.
    ○ Encourage participation and help build a sense of community within the group.
  • Collaboration:
    ○ Work closely with the MAA leadership team to align facilitation activities with organizational goals.
    ○ Provide feedback on group needs and outcomes to help improve programs.
  • Administrative Support:
    ○ Maintain accurate attendance records and uphold participant confidentiality.
    ○ Assist with scheduling and promoting group sessions.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilitation, counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Exceptional communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to manage group dynamics and create a supportive, inclusive space.
  • Familiarity with issues related to addiction, recovery, and family impact.
  • Comfortable using video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
  • Passion for MAA’s mission and a commitment to supporting families impacted by addiction.
  • Availability to dedicate 5-10 hours per week, including occasional evenings or weekends.
